On The Way
Tom and Cat came out of the Dark Forest.
They were on their way to the palace.
“Why are you going to the palace?” Cat asked.

A Kind Heart
“I want to be the royal wizard,” Tom said.
“But I’m not very good at magic.”
“You have a kind heart,” Cat said.

The Palace
Soon Tom saw the palace.
“Wow!” he said.
The palace had tall white towers.
There was a wide moat and a drawbridge.

Two guards stood near the gates.
“Hurry up!” said one guard.
“The tryouts start soon!”

Dirk
Tom ran into the Grand Hall.
Some wizards were gathered around a tall man.
“My name is Dirk!” the man snapped.
“I’m the head servant here!”

The Throne Room
“Dirk looks mean,” Tom thought.
“All wizards in the Throne Room!” Dirk ordered.
“Right now!”

“Yes, Dirk!” said all the wizards.
Dirk stomped away.
Tom ran after him. “Excuse me?”

Dirk spun around. “What do you want?”
“What’s going on in the Throne Room?” Tom asked.

“The tryouts, you fool!” Dirk said.
He grinned and leaned in closer to Tom.
“You’ll never get the job. My daughter will be the next royal wizard!”
