Tom walked along the path in the Dark Forest.
The forest was spooky.
“Where is the palace?” thought Tom.

A Peddler
Tom saw a peddler.
“Do you know where the palace is?” asked Tom.

A Rude Answer
“Yes,” said the peddler.
“It’s where it always is, you fool!”
“What a rude man,” thought Tom.

A Cold Wind
Tom walked some more.
But he still did not see the palace.
He pulled out the map.
Suddenly a cold wind blew.

Missing Hat
“Brr!” Tom shivered.
He reached into his sack.
He found his mittens.
But where was his fur hat?

Fur Hat
“I will make a new hat appear!” said Tom.
He pointed his wand at his head.
“Fur hat!” he said. Poof! Poof! Poof!

The Map Flies Away
Now something warm and furry sat on his head!
“I did it!” Tom said proudly.
Just then the cold wind blew again.
The map flew out of Tom’s hands!

The map flew off the path and through the trees.
Tom gulped.
“Master said to stay on the path,” thought Tom.
“But I need that map!”

Nervously Tom stepped off the path.
He went deeper and deeper into the forest.

Suddenly Tom stopped.
“Huh?” he said.
He felt his head.
His fur hat was moving!
